Biography

Cathal Burke O’Leary is a PhD student at Dublin City University’s School of History and Geography. He holds an MLitt in History from the University of Glasgow and a BA in History and Political Science from Trinity College Dublin. His research interests include histories of nationalism, labour, and state-building, and how these interact within transnational revolutionary currents.

His PhD research is funded by the Ireland India Institute and supervised by Dr Marnie Hay. It concerns state-building in post-independence Ireland and India, the parallels and contrasts therein, and the causal factors behind these points of similarity and difference.
